LanXi Becomes Kunming
We welcome you to the Kunming Camp Blog. Join us from the city in China which is known as the “City of Eternal Spring.” For some of us who are older, we are hoping that is metaphoric on many levels. Look up Kunming on Google Earth and read about this beautiful location
While our location has changed, our purpose for going to China has not.
We will be working with “Kunming Mary” as Woody likes to call her. She has graciously stepped forward to host the camp when our camp in LanXi was cancelled due to concerns relative to the old swine flu.
Mary is expecting about 100 students between the ages of 12-18. We will be at the KFEC (KUNMING FOREIGN LANGUAGES EDUCATION CETER) in Kunming. . The students will be commuting daily to the school and so will the teachers. We will have about a 25 minute commute from our housing to the school. We get to use public transportation. This will be a real cultural experience. Think of all the people we will see for 50 minutes a day as we commute to camp. IMPACT, IMPACT, IMPACT. We must be intentional in our effort.
More later. Keep us in your thoughts. Remember we leave on July 9.
