Dateline Xi'An: A Birthday Adventure

Friends and Family,

Day five found us very busy.  From our first meeting at 6:45 (a few of us at 6:00 to take a walk and talk to the boss) to the end of our walk home from the the birthday party at 9:00 pm  we were on the go all day.  So much excitement here and the students were very excited about an American Birthday celebration.  This activity was to culminate all the lesson on the best birth ever which has been told by all teachers now. ...read more »

I want to try to blog before dinner today as we go back to the school this evening for an evening activity with the students.  They so look forward to us being with them and they have very quickly found their way into our hearts.  Tonight we will have a digital camera hunt but it is really just a ruse to spend time with smaller groups of children and let them become more comfortable with us so they will begin to ask deeper and deeper questions. ...read more »

Xi'An Summer Camp Officially Opens

Well it is all official now.  Our opening ceremony this morning marked the official beginning of Xi'an Foreign Language School summer English Camp.  16 English teachers and 164 students strong.  Classrooms were humming with the sounds of Chinese students speaking English and getting to know each other.  Lots of laughter and songs. ...read more »
